CHOW TAI FOOK Joaillerie

Client: Chow Tai Fook

Year: 2017

Field: jewelry

· What?
Jewelry collection for Chow Tai Fook, the world-leading Chinese jeweler. This first collaboration between Chow Tai Fook and Studio De Lussac explored the theme of the connection between Versailles and the Forbidden City, two of the world’s most iconic heritage sites.

· How?
The rectangular dimensions of these two monuments were studied to approach architectural perfection: a wider rectangle for the Forbidden City, containing the largest ancient palace in the world, and a long, narrow rectangle for the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles to enhance light and mirror effects.

The designer superimposes these two pure geometric forms. The long rectangle, bordered with diamonds and representing the Hall of Mirrors, is positioned in front of the wider rectangle representing the Forbidden City, bordered with jade, creating a “window” through which French design highlights Chinese culture.

· With whom?
Chow Tai Fook, China’s leading jewelry brand.

· Designer’s note:
“A dialogue between French and Chinese culture through geometry, light, and craftsmanship.”
