BANC STONE & STEEL
Client: La Pierre de France
Year: 2010
Field: Product Design
· What?
The Stone&Steel bench is a fusion of two materials: Burgundy stone and lacquered steel or brushed stainless steel. It combines aesthetic research with ergonomic design.
· How?
Blocks of “Magny” stone, from the same quarries as the Louvre, are precisely drilled using digital machinery to accommodate stainless steel tubes. The tubes maintain enough flexibility to create an ergonomic seat that conforms to the human body. The straight metal lines contrasted with the stone monoliths create a geometric interplay, blending lightness and strength for a contemporary result.
